Rhizome is a sculptural installation in steel “I” beams which marks the beginning of a new Freeway extension in the ACT. As a sculpture it forms the first of Goodwin’s exploded structures on a large scale. Inspired by the local grasses the work also speaks to its context during the day and at night when lit.

This resting sparrow has decided to make a not so worn shoe with the beautifully tied laces her new nest.. Interestingly the title aptly conveys the single shoe fitting with the lone bird.

These fluid scooters impersonating "stags" look frozen in time and caught between a horrible road accident and the dominant and passive male stags defending their territory.

The windows of Paris - They come in all shapes and sizes yet appear so uniform adding their own special touch to the city scape. Paris is truly a beautiful city full of history and amazing architecture all mixed together within a European cosmopolitan culture that makes the city an absolute delight. When you walk the city streets it's impossible to stop looking up and taking great delight from the stone buildings and their big windows capturing the northern light, which in itself is something to experience, so different to the harsh light here in the south that we are used to here in Australia.
When little yet functional Juliet balconies are added the charm is only exemplified.
The Seagram building - Park Avenue, Midtown Manhattan New York City. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe - 38 stories tall and completed in 1958. A truly beautiful example of a modern skyscraper not only for its time but very much today. The uniformity and symmetry of the building is classical and understated achieved largely through the use of only two building materials visible to the observer, tinted glass and bronze. Mies van der Rohe initially wanted the steel frame visible to all however building codes at the time prohibited such construction siting the steel could fail during a fire if not covered with suitable fire retardant material. The extensive use of bronze in such a way to capture what lay beneath was the alternative.
I saw this building for the first time on a recent trip to New York - pure magic!
My first real estate development albeit with lego! I guess the interest started young. As a kid I was infatuated with building lego buildings in particular the design aspect, where should the front door be positioned, the placement of windows, roof line - I never had enough roof tiles and that infuriated me no end as i liked pitched roofs with dormer windows.
The building here is of a motel and as I recall the motel sign lit up with a lego battery operated light. Nice touch I though!
